Our Services

Residential Work

New construction

Starting with a blank lot is exciting; we make sure it stays that way. We manage everything from site prep to final walkthrough, keeping you in the loop at every step. Typical timelines range from 8–14 months, depending on size and complexity.

ADUS & Accessory Dwelling Units

An ADU can be a smart move for homeowners looking to maximize their property's potential. They add living space, rental income potential, and long-term property value all in one. We've built them from detached cottages, garage conversions, and attached suites. We know the local permitting process inside and out.

Home Additions

Whether you need a new bedroom, a bigger kitchen, a second story, we build additions that look and feel like they were always part of your home. Most additions run 3–6 months; the complexity can change the duration.

Commercial

“We are the contractors that property managers actually call back.”

Managing apartment buildings and commercial properties means problems don't wait. A vacant unit needs to turn over fast. A hallway needs repairs, the exterior is overdue for paint, and it's affecting tenant retention. We get it! That's why we are here for you!

We work with building owners, property managers, and HOAs. No job is too small, from a single repair to a full unit turnover.

Services we offer, but not limited to

  • Handyman and General Repairs

  • Roofing

  • Unit turnovers and renovations

  • Commercial Retrofitting

  • Plumbing

  • Windows and Doors installation or replacement

  • Flooring

Retrofitting

California shakes. Let's make sure your building is ready.

Seismic retrofitting isn't just a good idea in California. For many older buildings, it's becoming a legal requirement. More importantly, it's one of the most meaningful things you can do to protect your property, your tenants, and your investment.

We specialize in soft-story retrofits for multifamily buildings and cripple wall retrofits for single-family homes, which are the two most common and critical vulnerabilities in older California construction.

What we do:

Soft-story retrofits — Older apartment buildings with open parking or commercial space on the ground floor are especially vulnerable in a quake. We reinforce the weak first story with steel frames and shear walls, often with minimal disruption to tenants.

Cripple wall retrofits — Many homes built before the 1980s have an unbraced crawl space between the foundation and first floor. We brace and anchor these walls so your home moves with the ground instead of collapsing onto it.

Full documentation & permits — Every retrofit is permitted, engineered, and documented. This matters for insurance, resale value, and peace of mind.

Not sure if your building needs retrofitting? We offer free assessments and can tell you exactly where you stand.

Our Process

Step 1: Consultation

At FDM Construction, it starts with a welcoming conversation. We’ll schedule a time to meet and go over a few questions about your project. From the very beginning, we make sure you understand what the next steps look like to ensure that you feel comfortable moving forward.

Step 2: Meeting

Every project begins with an in-person, on-site meeting - because truly understanding your vision starts with seeing it firsthand. We walk the project space, take measurements, and talk through your ideas, needs, and budget. We use this time to get to know you and ensure we’re the right fit for your project.

Step 3: Design / Plans

Plans would be created based on your vision by an architect or an engineer for us to provide you with a realistic proposal.

Step 4: Proposal

We provide a detailed, easy-to-understand proposal that outlines the full scope of work, costs, and timeline. We walk you through it and answer any questions you may have.

Step 5: Agreement

Once you’re ready, we sign the agreement together. This officially starts the project, and from here on, we take full responsibility for delivering what we promised.

Step 6: Construction Begins

We will assist you in pulling permits and set a start date on your project. As the project progresses, we will provide updates regarding your project and be with you until it’s completed.
